State:Chaos - The new wave of Dutch thrash metal
The day for the Dutch holiday known to foreigners as Queensday, a number of local rock and metal bands played in bar in Venlo. Headliners for the evening were State:Chaos, a thrash metal band that features the vocalist from my very own band. This is also the only band I saw this evening, besides one track from the band Haraszment in which our vocalist does some guest vocals. Time to thrash!
As the band kicked in after the intro, vocalist Remco smashed himself into the crowd starting a moshpit and setting the tone for the show. Brutal music, brutal actions. Now I’ve seen State:Chaos three times before, but tonight it really hit me. This band plays at fucking top level, there’s no denying it anymore. The sheer tightness of the band as a whole creates a ferocious force that is to be reckoned with. Their mixture of brutal thrash riffs with a lot of melodic riffing is something that has been done before many times, but the fact that they stick with just brutal and even more brutal vocals makes this band rise over the masses who play this. The crowd felt the same as I did, as a lot of headbanging and moshing went on for the entire show in the little bar. I fear that I can say no more than that this band deserves to open up for most thrash legends playing in our country, and I hope other metalheads will soon come to terms with this. Nothing but praising in this review, but I can honestly do nothing else. The fact that one riff was forgotten by one of the guitarists doesn’t change that at all. Keep it up guys!
